Recently, KVH employees, family, and friends got out into the community to help raise awareness and funds for some significant health issues while having a good time doing it.
Alheimer's Association Memory Walk
Alzheimer's Disease is reaching out and touching more families every year but research into prevention, diagnosis, and treatment continue to make progress. That's why, for the second year in a row, Team KVH spent an afternoon participating in the Newport Memory Walk organized by the Rhode Island chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. In total, the team raised more than $4,400 for research efforts while team co-captains Margot Ricci and Bernie Fagan received a special award as the top online fundraisers. 2010 Multiple Sclerosis Society Jet Pull
Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system, leading to numbness in the limbs, paralysis, or loss of vision. Pulling together, this team of 20 -- with participants ranging from 15 years old to mid 50s -- managed to haul a 146,000 pound FedEx 727 jet at T.F. Green airport in Warwick, RI, in an effort to raise funds for MS research and treatment. While final results are still to be released, by midday, Team KVH managed to reocrd the fourth best time to haul the jet 12 feet: 8.3 second, only fractions off of the leader at 7.9 seconds. Now we just need to get our hands on another jet so we can practice for next year!
