MIDDLETOWN, RI – December 27, 2000 – KVH Industries (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced today that John M. Seavey, a leader in the field of antenna design and engineering and founder of Seavey Engineering Associates, has joined the company's Advisory Board. In his new position, Mr. Seavey will provide scientific and technical guidance to KVH's staff in the development of next-generation, in-motion antennas.
Mr. Seavey, a graduate of MIT, has been responsible for a wide range of antenna developments during the last 40 years. Among his contributions to antenna engineering are advances in folding and portable antenna designs, dual-band printed circuit arrays, ultra-high power antennas, angle-diversity antenna technology, and more than 100 mobile satellite antenna designs. In total, his company catalog lists more than 1,350 standard antenna products and Mr. Seavey himself has been awarded eight patents.
“As a member of KVH’s technical advisory board, John brings tremendous experience and a record of innovation that are invaluable as we develop next-generation, mobile broadband satellite antennas,” remarked KVH president and CEO, Martin Kits van Heyningen. “His input and guidance will be tremendous resources as we design ultra-low profile and photonic phased-array satellite antennas that will provide access to high-speed, two-way Internet services and satellite television signals aboard automobiles and other vehicles. All of us at KVH are excited by the opportunity to work more closely with this acknowledged leader in the field of antenna design and engineering.”
John Seavey commented, "We've worked closely with KVH Industries for several years developing antenna designs that optimize the performance of their mobile satellite television and communications systems." "Both their company and mine share visions of future generations of mobile communications systems that will be dramatically smaller, more efficient, and less costly than the current state of the art,” he added. “I look forward to being a member of the KVH Advisory Board and providing input and guidance to their strategic product development plans.”
