New Vice President Brings More than 20 Years of Product Development and Telecommunications Experience
MIDDLETOWN, R.I., Jun 4, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- KVH Industries (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced today that it has hired Dr. Kalyan Ganesan as the company's new Vice President, Engineering.

Dr. Ganesan comes to KVH from CoWave Networks, a Silicon Valley-based company that, under his direction, developed a new broadband wireless technology using repeater-based mesh topology. Previously, he spent 10 years in engineering and technical management at Hughes Network Systems where he oversaw engineering and product research and development within the Broadband Carrier Networks Division. He also served for 5 years as U.S. West's Technical Director for Advanced Technologies, overseeing the research and development that led to the deployment of advanced voice, fax, and video services using the U.S. telecommunications infrastructure.

Dr. Ganesan holds Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences. His Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering was granted by Case Western Reserve University.
KVH's photonic fiber initiative is focused on the development of ActiveFiber(TM) technology, which will allow the company to build high-speed optical networking components directly within a strand of optical fiber. At the same time, work continues on the company's mobile broadband program to create an ultra low-profile antenna to offer satellite TV and in-motion high- speed Internet for the automotive market.
