MIDDLETOWN, RI – January 7, 2004 – The Greek Navy has selected the TracVision® G6 satellite TV antenna system from KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) for installation aboard its vessels. Compatible with high-powered regional Digital Video Broadcast (DVB®) satellite TV services, the TracVision G6 provides in-motion reception of hundreds of channels of satellite TV. When combined with the TracNet™ 2.0 Mobile High-speed Internet System, TracVision G6 is also capable of receiving broadband satellite Internet services. More than 25 TracVision G6 systems have been purchased as part of this order and installation of the antennas is already underway. The selection of TracVision G6 over competing products was made following an extended period of trial installations on Greek navy vessels.
“We are very pleased to support the Greek Navy’s efforts to boost crew morale through the use of satellite TV,” said Ian Palmer, KVH’s vice president of satellite sales. “Regional satellite TV services are an effective means of providing naval crews with access to news, weather, sports, and other entertainment as vessels cruise offshore. For example, KVH has supplied more than 100 TracVision systems to the U.S. Coast Guard during the last several years. In addition to providing crew entertainment, high-bandwidth TV satellites also serve as an ideal conduit for the delivery of large volumes of video, imagery, and data to military forces. We look forward to working with the Greek Navy to support its onboard entertainment and data needs in the future.”
The TracVision G6 in-motion satellite system uses a 24" (60 cm) antenna combined with antenna-mounted rate gyros, signal strength tracking, the award-winning KVH GyroTracTM Digital Gyro Compass, and KVH’s integrated DVB technology to provide fast satellite acquisition and reliable satellite tracking. Compatible with any DIRECTV® or DVB satellite service worldwide, TracVision G6 makes satellite acquisition fast, automatic, and easy. Service for the TracVision G6 will be provided through KVH’s Certified Support Network, which offers all TracVision customers access to an international network of skilled technical dealers and support centers.
