KVH's New TracVision HD Converter Enables RV Customers to Receive HD Programming from DIRECTV’s New Satellite
MIDDLETOWN, RI – November 30, 2004 – High-definition (HD) programming has arrived and it has forever changed television, offering ten times the resolution, unrivaled picture quality and multiple channels of CD-quality sound. Now consumers don’t have to worry about leaving behind their HDTV lifestyles when they go out on the road. Unveiled at the 2005 Recreational Vehicle Industry Association annual trade show in Louisville, Kentucky, the new TracVision® High-definition Converter for DIRECTV® programming from KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) is available to RV owners who want the luxuries of home out on the open road.
Most of the high-definition programming offered by DIRECTV is derived from DIRECTV’s new satellite at 110 degrees W latitude, which broadcasts unique signals that traditionally could not be decoded by most mobile satellite antennas. The TracVision HD Converter enables any new or existing Digital Video Broadcast (DVB®)-compatible TracVision L3 and TracVision S3 antennas to seek out, decode, and track this unique satellite within its coverage footprint. The TracVision HD Converter also includes a versatile, easy-to-use control unit that offers rapid satellite switching control and powerful system configuration tools. And of course, all TracVision antennas can also switch to DIRECTV 101°W and 119°W, providing continued access to all of DIRECTV’s standard TV and music programming as well as the standard and HD programming broadcast by DISH Network™.
“With the growing popularity and increasing variety of high-definition TV, we wanted to ensure that our customers could watch the vivid HD programming that they already enjoy at home,” explained Ian Palmer, KVH’s executive vice president of satellite sales. “The RV industry has already recognized TracVision as the world’s finest TV antenna, as evidenced by our TracVision systems recently being named the number one item on the Camping World President’s Club Wish List. Now our customer can also watch the world’s most vivid satellite TV programming.”
The award-winning TracVision product line offers KVH’s integrated DVB technology and precision sensors to provide automatic satellite acquisition and outstanding tracking of satellite TV services. TracVision antennas have also been selected by more consumers around the world than any other satellite TV antenna.
