TracVision® A5 Installation Poster Receives Society for Technical Communication’s Highest Honor; KVH Wins Two Additional Awards

MIDDLETOWN, RI – March 17, 2005 – The commitment of KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) to improving its customers’ experience through outstanding documentation was recognized recently by the Society for Technical Communication (STC) when it honored KVH with several awards for superior technical publications, including the “Best of Show” award for the STC’s Boston/Northern New England chapter. Leading the way was the TracVision® A5 satellite TV system installation poster, designed to provide technical dealers and installers with an easy-to-follow guide for equipping cars with the award-winning TracVision A5 low-profile satellite TV system. The installation poster was not only named “Best of Show,” but was also honored with an Award of Distinction, the highest honor given, and was selected to compete in the STC’s International Competition, currently in progress. In addition, KVH received an Award of Merit for its TracVision G8 Owner’s Manual.

“KVH’s award-winning documentation is part of our comprehensive dealer and customer service experience. The awards from the Society for Technical Communication validate the commitment and effort put into our technical documentation for every one of our products,” said Ian Palmer, executive vice president of satellite sales for KVH. “Correct installation is critical to long-term customer satisfaction. Clear and easy-to-understand technical communication and user materials ensure both proper installation and easy operation of all of our products by dealers and customers alike.”

The STC’s Merit Awards are given to those publications that meet high standards in most areas and exemplify proficient technical writing. Awards of Distinction are awarded to those technical publications that are clearly superior in all areas and prove to be an outstanding example of technical communication principles.

“KVH’s superior documentation draws on every single department within the company,” said Mike Nelson, product documentation and training manager for KVH, who, along with graphic designer Suzan Glaum, was specifically recognized by the STC for the award-winning publications. “KVH enters its user documentation in the annual STC competition not only in the hopes of receiving an award, but more importantly, to receive valuable feedback from other experts in the field of technical writing. The judges’ comments have helped us make our user documentation even better, allowing us to further improve customer satisfaction.”

The STC awards are the latest in a series of honors bestowed upon KVH. Frost & Sullivan singled out KVH with its first-ever Market Leadership Award in the North American automotive satellite television market. In January 2005. KVH also received the General Motors 2004 Innovative Product Award and was named a finalist for the prestigious 2005 Automotive News PACE Award for the TracVision A5 satellite TV antenna system. Additionally, KVH’s line of marine TracVision products have won the National Marine Electronics Association "Best Product" Award for the seven consecutive years.
