Michael Kim of St. George’s School awarded A.H. Kits van Heyningen Technology Scholarship
MIDDLETOWN, RI – October 2, 2012 – KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) is pleased to name Mr. Michael Kim of Concord, MA, as the recipient of the 2012 A.H. Kits van Heyningen Technology Scholarship. Mr. Kim, a graduate of St. George’s School in Middletown, RI, is beginning his studies in mechanical engineering and computer science at Princeton University this fall. He is the most recent recipient of the $1,000 award, which is presented annually to a deserving Aquidneck Island high school senior attending a 4-year engineering or mathematics program beginning the following fall.
“We’re pleased to have Mr. Kim as our newest KVH Technology Scholar. Given the strength of his academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, and a successful internship experience here at KVH this past year, he is an ideal fit for this award,” said Whitney Holland, chairperson of KVH’s Charitable Giving Committee. “The A.H. Kits van Heyningen Technology Scholarship program recognizes the vital role that engineering and mathematics play in our local and national economies, our country’s future as a technological leader, and the success of companies like KVH. As an extraordinary student who has placed as a national semifinalist in several physics and math competitions, was awarded a prize for a scientific paper that he wrote and presented at a regional conference, and who is interested in the practical, beneficial applications of physics and engineering, Mr. Kim has already made his mark as a scholar. He also interned with our company, performing product testing on satellite equipment and gaining hands-on experience. On behalf of everyone at KVH, I want to congratulate Mr. Kim and wish him success as he pursues his passion for engineering at Princeton.”
