The Er1 error message is displayed whenever the fluxgate sensor circuitry in the Processor Unit is magnetically overloaded, as when magnetized or magnetizable materials are placed nearby, or the sensor is in the vicinity of strong magnetic fields. Corrective action includes rerouting cables that are passing strong electric currents, removing magnetic materials, or relocating the Processor Unit.
The Integrated CommBox Modem (ICM) is the streamlined all-in-one belowdecks unit that drives the TracPhone V7-HTS. It features a browser-based user interface and a convenient iPhone® app for system status, updates, and support. Replacing a full rack of components required for competitors’ systems, the 2U-high ICM contains:
  • IP-enabled antenna control unit
  • CommBox™ Network Manager
  • High-throughput modem
  • Voice over IP (VoIP) adapter
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet switch
  • Content storage and access for IP-MobileCast™ and Videotel™ training content
  • Support for over-the-air software updates for the ICM and antenna unit
The Lo bAt error message shows Lo and bAt alternately. This message is displayed whenever the MV103 receives insufficient voltage to function reliably. All MV103 functions are inhibited until proper operating voltage is restored.
There are several issues to consider when choosing the Processor Unit's location:

1. The most important consideration is to find an area away from large masses of magnetized or magnetizable materials and strong magnetic fields. The unit should be placed at least four feet away from large ferrous objects.

2. Place the unit as far as possible from large motors or generators or cables carrying strong electrical currents.

3. Install the unit as close as practical to the vessel's center of roll and pitch. The unit should be located close to the intersection of the fore-and-aft and beam axes; if a compromise is necessary, centering on the beam axis is more critical than centering on the fore-and-aft axis.

3. Mount the unit as close to level as possible when the vessel is in normal trim.

4. When properly mounted, the cover is facing up, the cable connector is to starboard, and the FORWARD arrow points toward the bow.
The MV103ACS and MV103DG offer almost all of the same features. The key exception is that the advanced MV103DG interfaces with the vessel's degaussing system and stores two separate calibrations, one for normal operation (degaussing off), and one for operation when the degaussing mode is active (degaussing on). Whenever the degaussing system is turned on, the MV103DG automatically switches to the degaussing on calibration. This added feature allows the MV103DG to correct for the altered magnetic distortions that occur during degaussing mode.
The function of display damping is to average a number of headings over time to present a stable display. Selection of either damping option is largely a matter of operator preference and the vessel's operating condition.

When operating in rough seas or at high speeds, where heading is apt to change rapidly, you may wish to select the Slow option, which causes the display data to be averaged over a 17-second period (the heading continues to update at one-second intervals, but the display is the average of the most recent 17 seconds).

When operating in calm seas or slow speeds, where heading changes slowly, you may wish to select the Normal option, which causes the display data to be averaged over a 9-second period.
