KVH Proudly Supporting The Cruising Club of America Centennial Celebration

In its 100th year, this organization of passionate and accomplished ocean sailors is hosting its centennial celebration in KVH’s home port of Newport, RI

Middletown, RI – KVH Industries, Inc. is proud to announce it will be one of the sponsors of The Cruising Club of America’s (CCA) Centennial. Centennial celebration events will be hosted in KVH’s home port of Newport, RI. More than 350 attendees are expected to participate in the week-long celebration, which will take place from September 11-16, with activities ranging from yacht tours to sailing seminars and culminating with visits to the Newport International Boat Show, where KVH will be exhibiting.

Membership in the CCA is exclusive, reserved for serious ocean sailors who have extensive offshore sailing experience and are experts in boat handling, seamanship, and voyaging. Membership is by invitation only and can be found in stations through the US, Canada, and Bermuda. There are currently just over 1,400 members. The CCA partners with the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club to host the biennial Newport Bermuda Race, which KVH also sponsored in 2022. KVH enjoys a rich history with the CCA and its involvement in the Newport Bermuda Race; in 2010 at age 94, Arent Kits van Heyningen, co-founder of KVH, became the oldest sailor to complete the 635 nautical-mile race.

KVH supports ocean sailors with a range of communications solutions that provide fast, reliable connectivity for offshore and transoceanic sailing. KVH offers the first fully integrated hybrid maritime solution, the TracNet™ series of hybrid antennas with the KVH ONE™ hybrid network. The TracNet H30, H60, and H90 terminals feature satellite, cellular, and Wi-Fi technology under one dome, with intelligent, automatic switching to continually deliver outstanding performance for sailors at the dock, underway, and out at sea.

In addition, KVH also offers the TracPhone® V30, an ultra-compact, fast, and affordable VSAT-only solution. The rugged, 37 cm antenna is a small, light, DC power maritime VSAT system, ideal for sailboats 30+ feet (9+ meters). All of the TracNet systems and the V30 feature exclusive Tracking Avoidance Zones (TAZ) to avoid blocking of line-of-sight reception due to carbon sails, aerofoil masts, and other operational structures aboard a sailboat.

“KVH is passionate about providing the best connectivity solutions for today’s sailors,” stated Ryan Smith, Senior Director, Americas Commercial & Global Leisure Sales. “For everything from racing monohulls to cruising sailboats, KVH provides unique breakthrough products and services that enable sailors to stay connected. We are proud to support The Cruising Club of America and its members as they celebrate their centennial in Newport.”

CCA Centennial Celebration attendees can visit with the KVH team and learn more about the company’s TracNet and TracPhone products at the Newport International Boat Show display area Land D1. Attendees are scheduled to visit the show on September 15 and 16.
