We’re proud to spotlight Melanie Dias, one of KVH’s cybersecurity experts, for a well-earned accomplishment. Melanie completed the competitive 14-week Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) GRC Intensive Training Program, covering Governance, Risk, and Compliance. Out of roughly 1,300 applicants, only 35 were accepted; Melanie was one of them.
The program was rigorous by design. Twice-weekly live sessions, homework, and a rigorous curriculum walked participants through more than 70 applicable individual controls. For her final project, Melanie built a full NIST SP 800-53 compliance program for a fictional maritime company and presented it to instructors and guest reviewers.
This is especially relevant to KVH because Melanie’s extensive work with USCG, IMO, and IACS requirements closely aligns with the GRC course material. The coursework is based directly on the regulatory language she already uses for our maritime customers.
Curiosity, dedication, and follow-through like Melanie’s strengthen KVH. She translates dense regulatory frameworks into clear, actionable guidance, benefiting our team and customers as they navigate an increasingly complex compliance landscape.
